One of our customers is from New Jersey & will be driving
home this week. She came into the store very upset about the state of her
hometown. In an effort to help where we can Pet Social has called upon its
friends for donations & will be donating food for her to take to local
animal shelters for the animal victims of Sandy. Any of the donated items left
over will be given to Project Maddie- a food bank for pets. Huge thank you to
Sobeys City Place for helping with donations.
UPDATE After word got out of our intentions to donate, one of our major suppliers: FREEDOM PET SUPPLIES donated over 2000LBS of pet food & pet supplies. The Bank of Montreal donated a cheque. With overwhelming support, Pet Social rented a cube van & drove the donations to Northern Ocean Animal facility ourselves.....and then to Long Beach New York. Rescue Ink's shelter that was destroyed by Sandy. Once again we want to thank he businesses that supported our efforts, the members of our amazing community that showed up to help us load the trucks, CP24 Animal Housecalls that featured the story, CHFI who encouraged it's listeners to donate before we left, Ian Robertson of  The Toronto Sun for the story that he wrote, Snap Downtown that covered our story and will feature it in the December 2012
issue. Please enjoy the photos below of the journey.

Pet Social's Doors Open

Picture
On Saturday April 21st, 2012 Pet Social opened its doors & was very proud to donate 100% of the profits from our grand went to: Jane Goodall Institute. The  photo to the left is Tara Alman of the Jane Goodall Institute presenting Pet Social with a chimp...much like the one Jane is known to carry all over the world to help spread her message. This little guy will have an honorary place within Pet Social for many years to come. It is our sincere wish that Pet Social not simply be a 'pet store' but also a platform to continue charity, educate, and help make the lives of all animals better. Please stay tuned to our blog as we are in the process of setting up some really great events that will positively affect the lives of many animals.
